Charles Maurice Stam, founding partner of Thompson Stam, practices from the firm’s Texas and Mississippi offices, and is “of counsel” to the Bullock Legal Group in Atlanta, Georgia.

Charles completed his preparatory (Horace Mann School) and undergraduate (Columbia College) education in New York City. Charles was awarded an academic scholarship to the University of Texas School of Law, where he received his J.D. cum laude (with honors) in 2017 and was selected to serve as a law clerk to the Honorable Debra M. Brown, the current Chief Judge of the Northern District of Mississippi. He is an LL.M. (Master of Laws) candidate at Temple University Beasley School of Law, recognized as having the nation’s preeminent trial advocacy department, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As a tested and creative legal strategist, Charles focuses his practice on catastrophic injury claims and wrongful death actions that present complex legal, medical, scientific, and technical issues. He has litigated or tried catastrophic injury and wrongful death actions in diverse areas—like trucking, maritime, oil and gas, premises liability, road defects, toxic torts, traumatic brain injuries, medical malpractice, and products liability. Beyond that, Charles has represented mass tort claimants and government entities in affirmative litigation to recover taxpayer funds from corporations and is currently advancing video game addiction claims on behalf of public entities. With a generalist’s sensibility and versatility, his experience runs the gamut from commercial litigation, including statutory claims and fraud actions, to civil rights matters presenting a constitutional dimension.

Charles is a life member of the Multimillion & Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a fellow of the Texas Bar College, and highly rated by, among others, Super Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, and Avvo. He is licensed to practice law in all the state and federal courts of Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors.
